This is organised by the Parish Council on behalf of the residents of the parish (it is NOT a parish council meeting). Refreshments will be available.
The formal meeting will usually last for about an hour with social time and refreshments available before and after.
This annual parish meeting must be held each year between 1st March and 1st June, a right that goes back to medieval times, before parish councils existed. It must include the opportunity to allow any elector to put forward a motion on any topic to do with the village. A vote is by a show of hands. The result of any such vote is not binding on the parish council, but it is traditional for any such motion to be repeated at the next parish council meeting where parish councillors would vote on it again so that a binding decision is made
