Road and Safety Improvements in Curry Rivel – Information for Residents
In 2021, Curry Rivel Parish Council commissioned an Active Travel feasibility study covering a number of highway issues in the village as well identifying a suitable route to link Curry Rivel and Langport.
The Parish Council was allocated a sum of funding from the then Somerset Council to implement some priority changes resulting from the Active Travel Study. Somerset Council has since developed the study in order to implement the changes and aid pedestrian safety and active travel.
A consultation has recently been conducted by Somerset Council regarding the proposed changes. Although the period of consultation is now past, Somerset Transport have offered to listen to any further feedback on these proposals.
These road and safety proposals have come about as a result of the Active Travel Study conducted in 2022 adopted by the Parish Council in 2023 and as a result of concerns of safety and traffic congestion around the school especially at the start and close of the school day.

The proposals will be subject to Regulatory Orders which will be advertised and also subject to an independent Road safety Audit before and final review and final plans.
