It tells of how a young London-based writer, Juliet Ashton (Lily James), begins exchanging letters with members of The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society about their experiences during World War II when their island was under Nazi occupation.
Juliet has the idea of writing a book based on the correspondence and decides to travel to Guernsey. There she meets members of the group who initially welcome her and treat her like a celebrity. As she conducts her research the story of the Society and its founder member begins to unfold.
Also stars: Michiel Huisman, Tom Courtney, Penelope Wilton, Jessica Brown Findlay, Katherine Parkinson & Matthew Goode.
