Green heart

The WI has been campaigning on environmental issues for many years — calling for action to tackle pollution, preserve our countryside and address climate change in many ways.

One of its initiatives has been its 'Show the love' campaign, which is about making and sharing a green heart around Valentine's Day to start important conversations about climate change in your community. This year, Somerset has asked each WI to make a length of bunting with a green heart on each flag. Once again its talented members have come up with some beautifully decorated green hearts which will be assembled into a length of bunting. This will be handed in and when all the lengths are joined together they will be used to decorate areas in Somerset under threat from Climate Change. The WI expects to get a lot of TV and press coverage from this and will use it to promote the WI and its commitment to protecting the environment.
