Harvest Thanksgiving @ The URC All are Welcome. Sun 22nd September Harvest Thanksgiving Service 10:30 am.

Donated produce at this service will be taken to our local Foodbank at Langport – toiletries, packets & tins gratefully received.

In our expression of our love for God we believe we are called to advocate for equal sharing of resources, for supporting the vulnerable, caring for those struggling with difficulties which weigh them down and those on the margins of society. At this harvest time of year, when we give thanks for the ripe fruit and the grain, are grateful for those who work to put food on our tables, we are all too aware of those for whom there is not plenty, who struggle to make ends meet for whatever reason and we are compelled to share what we have – in Luke 3:11 we read "If you have two shirts, give one to the poor.

If you have food, share it with those who are hungry." In the well-known story of the feeding of the five thousand Jesus takes what little food there is (only 5 loaves and 2 fishes), blesses it and shares it among everyone....

If you would like to share of your little or your plenty bring items for Langport Foodbank along to the service. Or pass them on to a member of the congregation and we will make sure they get to the foodbank. Thank you.

Also, on Sun 22nd September Charity Lunch 12 noon – 2pm URC Hall (behind the Chapel)

We experimented last Harvest with having our charity lunch on the Sunday (rather than the Saturday as in previous years) after our thanksgiving service – we have decided to do so again this year too.

We have chosen to support causes close to home this year. Residents of Curry Rivel may have heard or read in the Curry Rivel News that the village primary school is in need of funds to replace outdoor play equipment which has become unsafe.

We invite anyone wishing to help us raise funds towards replacement equipment to lunch with us on Sun 22nd September – if you wish to donate but are unable to attend you can send your donation to our Treasurers c/o Stoney Cottage, Stoney Lane, Curry Rivel.
All are welcome.
