MVH Film Night — Florence Foster Jenkins (PG13)
This hilarious comedy-drama, starring Meryl Streep in the title role, is based on the true story of a New York heiress who was a concert pianist and had always wanted to play at the Carnegie Hall. However, an injury in her youth took away that dream. With music being her life she decides to resume singing lessons and hires pianist, Cosmé McMoon, alongside her vocal coach, Carlo Edwards. McMoon is shocked to discover that she lacks any singing talent but Edwards and her indulgent husband, St. Clair Bayfield (a brilliant Hugh Grant), warn him against any criticism. The film tells the story of how, with Bayfield's support, Florence is determined to achieve her ambition.
