The Monument

Lonely Prospect Tower perched on Troy Hill
Parking up from path short walk
Burton Pynsent Monument,
Curry Rivel Column,
Pynsent Column,
Pynsent Steeple
and Cider Monument

Born of opposition of a hogshead cider tax
In June 1948 did a heifer climb it's 172 steps?

Seen for miles from winding lanes crossing Level plains
Gazing austerely out across flat, water-logged landscape
Moss and lichen clothe it's carved graffiti base
Gothic edifice peppered with metal pin piercings

Once it stood amongst erected temples and follies
It only now survives
