Mon 22nd June 2019 saw the culmination of the Curry Rivel in Bloom's effort to retain the fantastic Gold medal (plus a plethora of other awards) won last year in the RHS South West in Bloom competition. The RHS judges appear to have been very impressed by all they saw. Of course this is only a taster for the Mon 29th July, when the judges for the RHS Britain in Bloom, National Champion of Champions roll into the village. After a presentation at the Village Hall the judges visited the school to meet children and show them raised beds with vegetables they had grown.
The judging route took in the High St planters and the winning Front Garden winners.
Then past the colourful Townsend cottages to be briefed on the wild flower meadow at Eastfield, wild life survey and moth trapping.
Then to the CRiB allotment and meeting Young gardener of the year.
The Bp garage was next on the list, the War Memorial and Granny's Garden.
Finally back to the Village Hall for lunch with some of the groups involved in the CRiB year.
