RSPB West Sedgemoor, Swell Woods and Greylake has just finished preparing a labyrinth trail into Fivehead Meadow, accessed on foot from RSPB Swell Wood on the A378. You can explore the delights of one of the most insect and flower rich meadows in the UK any time now until early August, when it will get its annual hay cut.
It is heaving with grasshoppers and crickets, marbled whites and meadow browns, and full of a range of wild flowers like betony, dyers greenweed, birds foot trefoil, black knapweed, and wild carrot.
The snail trail labyrinth provides access to the heart of the meadow. You are reminded to please stick to the paths and enjoy for the the rest of July. Info here
