St. Andrew's Church repairs

Merlons and Scaffolding.

merlon; noun

the solid part of a crenelated parapet between two embrasures

From 30th August, for a period of 4 – 6 weeks, scaffolding will be in place along the south wall and porch of the church. This is to conduct necessary repairs to the pointing of the merlons on the top of the wall and porch.

There will be hazard warning signs and orange mesh fencing will cordon off the area adjacent to the scaffolding, which will somewhat restrict the use of paths and grass areas.

For your own safety, please do respect these cordoned off areas.

During the contractor's working hours the church will be open as normal. However, it may occasionally be necessary to close the porch area off, in which case the north door, 'behind' the church, will be available for access.

Outside working hours the whole church may at times need to be locked, including during weekends, but EXCLUDING for Sunday services, weddings and funerals.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

This repair work is partly funded with grants from the Somerset Churches Trust and the National Churches Trust.
