This year Somerset County Council has spoken to over 5000 residents across Somerset about what their priorities are for council spending – and the results made it clear that Adult Social Care is a top priority, coming in second place after protecting children and improving education.
They were recently at Burnham-on-Sea for the EAT Festival and were fortunate to get to speak to 229 people on day. Joined by Executive Member for Adult Social Care, cllr Heather Shearer, they had some excellent conversations with members of the public about all things social care. One thing that was very clear, is that adult social care is a top priority for people of all ages across Somerset, with a wide cross section of people voting it into their top three priorities. This is great news for hardworking staff across the sector, but means that the strategy – shared plans for the future – is absolutely crucial to get right.
