CRiB Courts Sponsorship

crib with flowerstp sponsors crib

TheCRiB (Curry Rivel in Bloom) group have obtained helpful sponsorship from Travis Perkins in Langport, who donated over £100 worth of Postcrete to enable 7 posts to be firmly fixed into position round the war memorial garden.
The posts will have hanging baskets on them, and the posts will be linked by rope swags. The planting will be in the 2017 theme colour of purple and gold.
The photo shows Chair of CRiB, Peter Goodenough, with Ian Ilot, manager of Travis Perkins in Langport, collecting the donated Postcrete.

There will be a large willow fence which will be made on site around the boundary of the garden, which is being produced by Coates of Stoke St. Gregory and they are sponsoring part of the cost with the rest being met by the Parish Council.

What is needed is local sponsorship of the posts and some mechanical help with digging out the bottom of the post holes – where volunteers have met solid rock. if anyone can help, please do make contact.

Many thanks go to Mr James Duder of County Stores, owners of the petrol station, who will be making a financial donation towards the War Memorial new planting scheme. There will be an official presentation to CRiB at the end of February when the petrol station will be relaunched as a BP garage.

Look out for the purple crocuses planted by the Twinning Tree next to the petrol station, they should be flowering by now; planted as part of the Purple4Polio campaign, orchestrated by The Rotary Club of Langport and Somerton, over 6000 purple crocus corms have been planted in the area, with over 500 being planted in Curry Rivel. Across the UK over 6 million crocus corms are being planted.

The public meeting on 22nd February at 7.30pm in the Village Hall will be a chance to discuss with members of the community how they can get involved, so please do come along.
