| Parish Council Grants - apply on line |
|
|
Parishioners of Curry Rivel who are members of local organisations are encouraged to apply for grants that benefit as many members of the Parish as possibleUnder section 137 of the 1972 Local Government Act the Council is not able to offer grants to individuals. Thus the number one criterion for judging the application will be its benefit to the Parish as a whole, the more people in the village who benefit the more likely that full funding will be given.Secondly the cost benefit ratio will be taken into account, that is, although applications will not have to be within certain financial limits, the amount of benefit accruing for each pound of grant money spent will be a powerful factor. Thus the second criterion will be based on whether the proposed project is soundly financially based - could it done with less money? Applicants are encouraged to have more than one estimate if they propose buying products or services with the grant.
The organisation should be able to answer the question of why the money is not available from other sources - the Parish should not be approached for money just because it is an easy option, it is very important that we all bring as much resource as possible into the village from outside sources and applicants need to show evidence of applying for resource from other places.
Finally it is important that the organisation has a good plan for follow up, that is the Parish needs to be kept informed of the progress of projects if money is granted. We will ask organisations that have been successful in obtaining money to the Annual Parish Meeting to give an account of their projects.
How to apply:Either fill in the form interactively online (below) or ask the Parish Clerk to provide a hard copy of the form and return the completed form to her. The first deadline for applications will be the last week of September. Be prepared for a representative to come along to the Parish Council meeting on 6th October to give a maximum five minute presentation about your application and answer questions arising. Following each question and answer session there will be a brief discussion between Councillors.
What happens next:The Parish Councillors will each assign a score to each project and at the end of the presentations the scores from each Councillor for each project will be averaged. The projects will be ranked on these averages and the funds available allocated to projects in rank order.
