Members of Girlguiding Somerset are bag packing at Langport's Tesco this Saturday from 10am — 4pm, a fundraiser for a group trip to Sri Lanka next spring, to volunteer in schools and care centres.
You will spot them in full blue and red uniform with bright orange and yellow neckerchiefs around the tills and entrance areas, so please ask for help packing your shopping or for a hand off loading it from trolley into your car.
So far, Curry Rivel Guides have raised almost £800 of the £8,000 needed for the unit's group of 4 who are going on the volunteering expedition to Sri Lanka.
The Guides also have a Jumble sale on March 18th 2.30 — 5pm in the Village Hall and are still appealing for donations of Jumble.
Their next fundraiser is March 25th, a Quiz night. doors open at 7pm, quiz starts at 7.30pm. There will be a bar, raffle games and a craft stall.
The Guides are also holding their 2nd annual Easter treasure hunt starting from the village green, Good Friday 14th April 10.30 am — noon. There will be a prize for the 1st correct answer, little Easter eggs to give out together with a raffle and refreshments.
As you probably know, Guides provide a service crew for waitressing and washing up at village events. For this fundraiser we are offering this service for a donation to anyone in the community planning a big family celebration this year. please ring 252901 to book.
