Doors Open 7pm.... Eyes Down 7.30pm.... Bingo for the Guides
4 members of 1st Curry Rivel and Drayton Girl Guide unit have been selected to join a team of 20 guides and 4 leaders on Girlguiding Somerset's International Trip to Sri Lanka for two weeks in early 2018.
The group will be volunteering at a local primary school helping teach English, playing games and renovating buildings, supporting community projects at Tsunami shelters and helping at the orphan elephant sanctuary. They will also be linking with local Sri Lankan guide groups where they hope to forge friendships and share in the ethos of guiding worldwide.
The visit will benefit the local communities they volunteer at and it is their hope that this will have a positive impact on both them and the local community. At the same time, they are linking up with the Somerset based charity School in a Bag, raising funds to pack and distribute bags from their base in Sri Lanka.
To undertake the trip, each team member has to raise £2000 each, they have a programme of fundraisers organised that kicks off tomorrow night, Feb 10th with a Family Bingo at the Robert Sewers Hall. Doors open at 7 pm, Eyes down at 7.30pm.
