AN ARSON investigation has been launched after £50,000 worth of straw was set alight in Curry Rivel.
The fire broke out in a field in the Dyers Road area just before midnight on Friday, February 3rd.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We're appealing for witnesses and believe a number of vehicles were passing by this area at the time. A member of the public was also walking in the area with a torch.

"If you were passing by the Dyers Road area of Curry Rivel around the time of the fire and saw or heard anything suspicious, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5217025458."

A 999 call was made reporting a fire in the open in a 50-metre by 20-metre area in the open shortly before midnight on Friday night.

The blaze at Dyers Road, Curry Rivel, involved silage and firefighters had to battle to protect nearby properties and animal feed.
