Wonderful aromas filled the hall at our July meeting as we enjoyed a demonstration of Chinese Cookery. Aileen Hase prepared four dishes for us and we all had the chance to taste them. She made it look so easy and I think some of us will certainly be trying them at home. The secret is in the preparation and having everything ready before you start cooking. It’s been a busy month for us. We were lucky to have a dry day for our Open Gardens and strawberry tea – the gardens were looking great and the strawberries and shortcake disappeared very quickly. Our stall at the Church fete attracted a fair number of visitors and thank you to everyone who had a go at our quiz sheet. The next week, a group of us went to Dillington House for a very interesting talk from the director, Wayne Bennett. We had a look round both the old and new buildings and were so impresssed that we’re now looking to see how we can get back there again. What a treasure on our doorstep. |
