Going Wild in our Nature Reserves and your GardenThursday 19 January 19:30 - 21:00Mark Green, Trust Reserves Officer and Dr Anne Bebbington, formerly senior ecology tutor with the Field Studies Council, will share this evening talk. Mark will tell us about the work carried out in our local reserves to protect wildlife and Dr Bebbington will share her enthusiasm for bringing wildlife into our gardens.
4th Annual Workshop for Art and Wildlife on 29th May 2011 helped us look at the countryside and wildlife through artist’s eyes. The challenge was to explore and capture our own artistic interpretations in drawing, photography, creative writing or some other way. with an introduction , then a walk for ideas, then practical interpretation in the hall A one day wildflower photographic workshop on May 1st. Covering all aspects of selecting your subject, composing the picture and using your camera. With field work in Beer Wood. Led by John Bebbington FRPS. Cost £10 . Sunday 10th April we enjoyed a sunny walk in Beer Wood seeing the bluebells , early purple orchids and the unusual Toothwort and much more. Butterflies were also enjoying the sunshine. Our quiz evening on 20th Jan was a successful and enjoyable occasion with a glass or two of wine, hot sausage rolls and good company. On 21st Sept 2010 Edward Wells came to talk about Bats. Ed is very knowledgeable on the subject and has spent many years involved in their conservation. Ed talked about the different species of bats to be found in Somerset about their lifestyles and where they live. He brought along a real live bat!
