Prayer
Prayer anchors us to the needs of this world and leads us to action and to this end we meet bimonthly at 8am at Orchard View for a Prayer Breakfast. URC_SUndayschoolparty101_optA time for sharing our thoughts and concerns (for ourselves, our community, our world) over cooked breakfast before spending time focussing these thoughts in prayer.

Village Activities
Coffee Mornings
Easter Egg Hunt
‘Living The Questions’
Summer Barbeque
Car Treasure Hunt
Harvest Lunch
Film Nights
Christmas Craft Fair.

Coffee Mornings
Our first Coffee morning of the year is on Saturday 13th February in the Hall at the rear of the Chapel. With a Valentine theme it runs from 10-12 noon and there will be both a cake stall and the chance to decorate your own heart shaped biscuit-to give to your sweetheart or to treat yourself!

Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Saturday-watch for details closer to the date.

‘Living The Questions’ is a series of discussions finding out about a God and Christ from whom the misunderstandings and superstitions of centuries have been stripped away. If you feel that a Church and its faith should be kindly, openhearted, broad-minded, and not out of touch with the world we live in you will enjoy these discussions. Location and dates to be confirmed. Further information contact Tim 252799.

Summer Barbeque 2009’s barbeque was a wet affair-but still we sat and ate under the marquee whilst our cook braved the elements. Usually in July watch out for date confirmation.

Car Treasure Hunt in 2009 saw 8 cars of 4 occupants leave the starting grid in the village car park at 5-minute intervals to scour the highways and by ways of mid Somerset before parking up at Orchard View for Drinks and Desserts.

Harvest Lunch
Harvest weekend in 2010 will be Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September. On the Saturday there will be a Ploughman’s Lunch with sumptuous homemade desserts to which as many as would like to come along are welcome. Held at the URC Hall, last year at £5 per head we raised over £200 for SOS Village Botswana (see Group Charities). The traditional Harvest gifts were donated to ‘Open Door’ charity in Taunton and the Harvest baskets that the children presented were given to members of the village community.

Film Nights are held every now and again utilising the Churches projector. Again held in the URC Hall films viewed so far have been ‘The Golden compass’ and ‘Prince Caspian’ with fish’n chips from the Olde Forge.

Christmas Craft Fair this year will be on Saturday 20th November from 11-3pm in the Village Hall. This year’s will be our 5th craft fair (3rd Christmas fair) and there will be around 16 quality craft stalls with locally handcrafted items for sale. Refreshments include bacon butties and mince pies; there will be musical entertainment, raffle of craft items, and activities ‘to do’. Our aim is to provide a warm friendly atmosphere in which to meet up with folk from the village and further afield, to support and encourage our local artisans and create an enjoyable event for all.
