General information about Langport Runners

Langport Runners  meets every Wednesday at the All Saints Church hall in Langport.  Several members both seniors and juniors live in Curry Rivel. There is a strong junior section which meets during the summer at the Huish Episcopy Science College in Langport on a Monday evening from  6.30 to 7.30 pm,  usually with around 20  members aged 8 to 13,  plus seniors and older teenagers who all take part in organised training and coaching sessions to suit their age groups and ability.  All ages and abilities from Curry Rivel are very welcome to come along and join in. Call David German  (01458) 259688, for more information.

Our experience in Langport is that many youngsters are attracted to join such an activity but ideally it needs to be within walking distance of their home for the majority.  A similar junior group may be started in Curry Rivel and any offers of help will be most welcome, but in the mean time you can join us in Langport. If you need transport let us know.   Our local School does much to encourage our children to get active through running  in the School Cross Country and athletic events. We  support their efforts.

Langport Runners supports the Junior Schools inter school cross country events by  providing marshalls. The Curry Rivel primary school cross country and athletic  team has done well in recent events. The inter area cross country event  was held on March 31st at  Montecute and some local children competed in the County Championships. Many of our Juniors have competed in the Inter school athletic events this summer.
