Curry Rivel is a thriving village set within unspoilt countryside.  It is situated on a ridge of 'high' land 2½ miles from Langport in the east and 12 miles from the county town of Taunton in the west. There are fine views of the Somerset Levels to the north, the Isle valley to the south and the Blackdown Hills to the south west. 

The village has a population of approximately 2,500 and the original development lies along the A378 where many attractive old houses built from the local blue lias stone, which used to be quarried in the village, are to be seen. Our picturesque village green, surrounded by a historic church and cottages, is a short walk from the High Street. 

On the western edge of the village the Burton Monument stands on Troy Hill, built by William Pitt, Earl of Chatham, in memory of William Pynsent who bequeathed his estate to Pitt. 

The parish is administered by South Somerset District Council and has a parish council which meets monthly. The village primary school, opened in 1876, continues to provide a high standard of education to children from the village and surrounding area. The play group recently took up residence in the school and forms part of the Foundation Unit. 

The village is fortunate to boast a number of facilities including a post office, florist/ greengrocer, petrol station, two convenience stores and a DIY/ heating shop. The Olde Forge restaurant and pub is located in the centre of the village, as is a free car park.

There is an abundance of clubs and societies which meet regularly, suitable for all age groups, and the church of St Andrew's and the United Reformed Church together meet the spiritual needs of parishioners.
