For up to date status on roads and alerts go to www.somerset.gov.uk/winterservice

Somerset had the large amount of snow as expected on Friday night but that forecast for Saturday during the day and this morning has not materialised although it is snowing now in some areas. I understand Devon has had a large amount of snow overnight.

All the pre-treated network is open and passable with care and no roads on this network are currently closed at the moment, our gritters are out patrolling dealing with hazards as they find them. This will continue until the snow has passed.

Most roads off the pre-treated network have not been treated and have snow and ice on them, the message is check the website,  for the treated roads and plan your route accordingly even if it means a longer journey

Our winter forecast radar is showing snow until 10ish at the moment and it may then clear but this is updated regularly.

I will update you again this  afternoon.

Regards,
Geoff Dight.
