Royal British Legion Curry Rivel, Drayton and Fivehead Branch Annual Cheese and Wine Party Print E-mail

This year’s Royal British Legion Cheese and Wine Party was held on the evening of  Wednesday 30 June 2010 in the very beautiful grounds of Drayton Manor (by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beresford).

This year tickets were limited to 100 (first come, first served), and I am delighted to say that we sold them all and even had a waiting list.  The weather did us proud and members and guests enjoyed the usual mixture of good wine, good food and good company in these splendid surroundings.  We are most grateful to Margot Whitehead and her gallant band of helpers for providing all the food; to Peter du Boulay and Sir David Stewart for running the bar; and to Brigadier Charles Barnes and his helpers for running the raffle

Finally my own deepest thanks goes to our Secretary, Chris Whitehead, upon whom, in my enforced absence, devolved all the organisational responsibility.  We raised in excess of £900 for Branch Funds, and this money will be spent, as is our custom, on providing additional comforts for the residents of the two RBL Homes in Somerset.  My thanks to everybody concerned.
