The junior and youth cricket season is drawing to a close now with only a few matches left. It has been an excellent season so far with more children playing cricket across all the various age groups than ever before.
The Under-10's have played a number of Kwik cricket matches, winning a high percentage of their games. This is especially pleasing as the majority of the children can still play in the Under-10 league next year. The Club has hosted a number of clubs and it has been a real pleasure to see over fifty children playing cricket with enthusiasm and team spirit. The Under-11's have had a very successful season winning their league and are now through to the semi-final of the plate completion. This has been a fantastic achievement for a number of players in the squad, as it has been the first time that they have played hard ball cricket. In addition, a large percentage are eligible to play again next year as they are only eight to ten years old. The Under-13's have had an exciting season because several of their matches have been very close, losing by one won or within ten runs on a number of occasions. The children play in the Taunton League, which consists of the big clubs in the area. It is the first time that we have entered this League so the children have acquitted themselves well. I would like to thank the Team Managers - Tony Newman Under-10's; Graeme Crosbie Under-11's; and Sean Hogg Under-13's, as well as Karen Hogg Scorer - for all their efforts during the season, as without their support, we would not be able to run the various teams. Also thanks to all the parents in helping and transporting the children to the various matches. However, the biggest thank you must go to the children who have represented Curry Rivel Cricket Club throughout the season. They have played with enthusiasm and team work and have been great ambassadors for Curry Rivel Cricket Club, displaying the true spirit of cricket throughout the season.
