The pub is back! ‘The King William IV’ will open again this month under the enthusiastic new ownership of Shona McDougall, who has moved down to Curry Rivel from Bristol with her mum, Diane.

The Curry Rivel News caught the new occupants in the middle of moving in, and saw first hand the work they have ahead of them as they have inherited a pub that has been stripped of all fixtures and fittings by the previous owners. So there is some work to do – refurbish, redecorate, re-stock – but it is a challenge that Shona is all too keen to be getting on with.

It may take more time to get the kitchen up and running, but rest assured the pub will be serving good wines, beers and real ales later this month, and all by the warmth of the open fires. Phew!

‘The King Willy’, as it is popularly known, has been closed since July, when the previous landlord felt he could no longer make the pub commercially viable.
