The first edition of the village newspaper was produced in September 1996. The need for a publication which would keep villagers informed about issues and events was identified as the result of a Parish Appraisal Survey conducted by the Parish Council. In the first edition the editor, Derek Seward, summed up the objectives which our village newspaper would be measured against, as follows:

• a publication reaching all parishioners, creating interest in the community and bringing people closer together.
• a publication that will generate interest and support for the range of clubs and societies that exist and thereby increase the enjoyment of living in Curry Rivel.
• a publication which will be used to air views and opinions, but not for party political purposes.

From the beginning the paper has been delivered free of charge to every household in the parish and continues to flourish through the support of local advertisers, the parish council and its contributors.
